The Sokoto state chapter of the Peoples Democratic party ( PDP) has said it is fully set to win the supplementary elections scheduled hold on 25th of January this year, just as the APC says it will give the ruling PDP in the state a fight of its life.

A member of the National Assembly, Hon Mani Maishiko Katami, representing Silame/ Binji federal constituency disclosed this to newsmen in sokoto the state capital. He said PDP being the ruling party in the State had set everything in motion to ensure that the party wins the scheduled elections.

It will be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) scheduled a re-run election as a result of a judgement at the appeal Court which ordered for a supplementary polls in Binjin, Sabon / Isa and Sokoto north/Sokoto south Federal and state constituencies. Maishinko told journalists that the re-run elections would further reaffirm the PDP victory in the 2019 Gubernatorial election in the state.

He urged PDP supporters to remain united and work towards the success of the PDP in the re-run and all future elections nationwide. The law maker however described Governor Tambuwal as a bridge builder who performed wonderfully in his days as speaker of the house of representatives. Meanwhile, the National Youth council of Nigeria (NYCN) Sokoto state chapter has described the comments on the state 2020 budget by the state APC Chairman, Isah Sadeeq Achida, as ill-mannered and disgraceful to a person of his caliber.

The chairman of the NYCN in the state, Comrade Aliyu Ibrahim Gadanga, made the statement while addressing journalists in Sokoto at the weekend. He said the comments made by the state APC chairman was like a dog backing to win the sympathy of his master, saying that the state 2020 budget assented to by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, was aimed at boosting the socio economic status of the state which suffered condemnation during the past administration. Comrade Gadanga explained that youths in the state were fully satisfied with the manner in which the state was being administered by Governor Aminu Waziri.

He said his refusal to disclose the heavy debt profile left by his predecessor, Aliyu Magatatakarda Wamakko was commendable, which helped to cage the ICPC and EFCC from hunting officials of the past administration. He said that had it been the anti-graft agencies were given green light to commence investigation of the shady deals of the former governor Wamakko administration, the APC chieftain would have been behind the bar by now talk less of engaging in unguarded statements.

"The Governor has made a giant stride in the educational sector of the States especially in the establishment of Female Education Board and commencement of a special program where 115 Girls across the 23 local Government areas were enrolled in to Federal Government College in Tambuwal. He said no fewer than 30 schools were given facelift with the construction of 283 new classrooms and rehabilitation of 239 existing ones, adding that the Governor made available over 20 thousand double seaters and plastic desks and chairs in all major schools in the state.

The Youths however called for the establishment of a commission of inquiry in to the killings by politicians of high profile, business men and Islamic clerics between 2007 to 2015. He cited the Killing of Hon Murtala Wauru, Alhaji Danda Mana and Malam Umar Dan Maishiyya as well as the attack on Hon Abu Abdu and kidnapping of Alhaji Abu Dankure among others.

Comrade Gadanga however believed that tracing the root causes of the killings and kidnapping in the state would bring an end to the activities of the assassins and kidnappers in the state.
