Zamfara state governor, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, on Monday at the Government House Gusau, received the AstraZeneca vaccine, signifying the official commencement of the Covid -19 vaccination in the state.
The governor was given the Astrazeneca vaccine injection by the state Commissioner for Health, Yahaya Mohammed Kanoma.
Matawalle urges citizens of the state to avail themselves of the vaccinations as it has been declared beneficial in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Other top government functionaries that also got vaccinated at the Governor's office include the Speaker of the State Assembly, Nasiru Mu'azu Magariya, and the Deputy Chief of Staff to the governor, Dr. Bashir Maru.
Earlier, the commissioner of Health, Kanoma said the state received 55, 920 doses of the vaccine and that 27, 960 people of the state are expected to be vaccinated in the first circle of the exercise.
He explained that the injection is free of charge and that the state government will ensure total compliance with all the Covid-19 Presidential Task Force guidelines in the Vaccination period. NNL.
