In an unrelenting efforts towards bringing to an end all manner of crimes in their States of operation, the 8 Division, Nigerian Army has flagged off a 3-day operations planning cadre workshop for 2022.
The event which was held at the Lt Gen Tukur Buratai Auditorium in Giginya Barracks, Sokoto has all the sister security personnel in attendance.
Re-echoing the fact that the workshop is timely, considering the multiple security challenges being faced in the country, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Div, Major General Uwem Bassey, appealed to all and sundry to cooperate with security agencies in ending the menace.
The workshop which has its theme as, "Sustaining Capacity Building and Multi-Agency Cooperation: A Key To Defeating Insurgency And Terrorism In Northwest Nigeria" was also to foster inter-agency synergy.
While stressing that each of the security problems being faced in Nigeria today comes with its own peculiar challenges, Maj Gen Bassey therefore underscored the need for continued training to contain the emerging security challenges.
"Our security challenges require all hands to be on deck. I therefore employ all avenues and seek closer synergy and cooperation in the business of securing our country".
The GOC 8 Div, Major General Uwem Bassey, also appealed to the participants drawn from diverse security backgrounds to be very objective in their contributions, adding that the planners of the event have done excellently well by bringing competent resource persons for the programme.
Some of the papers to be presented at the 3-day 2022 operation planning cadre include, "Junior Leadership As A Panacea for Winning The Fight Against Insurgency/Banditry in Northwest Nigeria", "Responsibility of Staff Branches in Planning Operations: Counter-Terrorism Operations in Focus", "Intelligent Management and Sharing In A Divergent Operating Environment".
Others include, "Joint Operations Planning in CT COIN Operations: Operations Hadarin Daji in Perspective", "Legal Obligations and Human Rights in The Conduct of Operations: Anti-Banditry Operations in Perspective as well as "Inter-Agency Cooperation:An Imperative To Defeating Insurgency/Terrorism".
