The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, on Wednesday, commissioned a 3.2 kilometers road constructed by the Nigerian army from Bichiki village to the training range in the state.
Commissioning the project, Buratai represented by the Head of Policy and Planning Unit of the Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun, said that he was concerned about the poor condition of the road during his last visit to the state.
"The constructed road will ease the transportation of officers and students to the range during training and firepower demonstrations. Aside from that, the army had also built a class 60 ton brigade linking communities close to the range" he said
"The Nigerian army is mandated to protect Nigerian territories and provide external security for the citizens. I assure you that the Army will continue to remain non-partisan in the discharge of its duties", he said
Also speaking, the Commander Nigerian Army Armour Corps Bauchi, Major General Mohammed Magaji, expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for the prompt intervention, assuring that the Nigerian Army in Bauchi would remain loyal and dedicated to the training in order to produce professional and gallant officers.
He recalled that before the intervention, the route to the range was in deplorable condition as officers found it difficult to pass especially during the rainy season.
The Chief of Army Staff who revealed that the Nigerian Army was mandated to protect Nigerian territories and provide external security however promised that they would continue to remain apolitical in the discharge of their duties.
In his remarks, Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed, represented by the Commissioner for Works, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, lauded the army, saying the project would bring succor to the people of the host communities.
While pledging more support to the army, the governor also tasked them with a mutual relationship with the people of the host communities.NNL.
