Gunmen suspected to be armed bandits, at the weekend, abducted the Zone 'C' Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state, Mallam Aminu Bobi, in Mariga Local Government Area.

Aminu Bobi is said to have been abducted by the gunmen who invaded the area on motorcycle at about 5 pm on Saturday from his farm where he had gone to supervise ongoing work by labourers.

The source told NIGERIAN NEWSLEADER Correspondent on phone, that the gunmen invaded the farm in six motorcycles with each motorcycle of the riders carrying three people and shot sporadically into the air before taking hold of their target.

The gunmen, according to the source, did not touch any of the labourers except the APC zonal Chairman. As at the time of this report, the kidnappers are yet to contact the family of their victim.

Efforts to confirm the abduction from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger state command, DSP Abiodun Wasiu, proved abortive, as he did not pick his calls. NNL.
