The Nigerian Army has reassured residents of Bauchi State of its continued commitment to sustaining peace and security, calling for stronger cooperation between the military and the public.

The assurance was given by the Commander of the 33 Brigade, Brigadier-General Uchechukwu Godwin Simon, during the 2025 West African Social Activities (WASA) ceremony held on Saturday at the Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi.

Brigadier-General Simon said tackling security challenges requires collective responsibility, stressing that public support and timely information remain vital in the fight against criminality.

While commending officers and soldiers for their dedication, Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by the State Chief Security Adviser, retired DIG Sani Mohammed, praised the Nigerian Army for its role in maintaining law and order across the state.

He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for security agencies, noting that peace and stability are fundamental to development and the wellbeing of citizens.

In his speech at the event, Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by the State Chief Security Adviser, retired DIG Sani Mohammed, described WASA as a cherished military tradition that promotes camaraderie among officers, soldiers and their families.

He said the annual ceremony also serves as a platform for strengthening civil-military relations and boosting the morale of troops deployed in internal security operations across Bauchi State.

The governor commended the Nigerian Army for its sacrifices and professionalism in maintaining peace and order, particularly praising the 33 Brigade for its contributions to security in the state.

The event, which celebrated the Nigerian Army’s shared identity and achievements, concluded with cultural performances, awards, and a bonfire to mark the end of the year’s activities. NNL.
