Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District in the upper Chambers of the National Assembly, Senator Okey Ezea (popularly called Ideke), has expressed great optimism that the long years of agitation for the creation of Adada state which he is currently championing in the constitution review exercise, will be considered as a new extra state to be fashioned out of the present South East geo political zone
Senator urged his constituents not to be worried about statements claiming that Anioma state will carry the day in the campaign for the creation of a new state in the present South East zone.
Ezea stated thus, "Our people should, please, not be worried about statements like this from Anioma agitators. We are not against Anioma State as Ndigbo but ADADA is of the highest priority and the oldest request from the South East.
"That Senators signed a piece of paper titled "Anioma State" doesn't obviate the need to fulfill the requirements of Section 8(1) of the CFRN 1999, as amended, which of course only ADADA STATE demand has fulfilled in the South-East. Let them show us where the elected LGA Councillors, Chairmen, House of Assembly, House of Reps members and Senators representing those areas signed the request for Anioma State.
"We are proud to say that ADADA State is good to go, having strictly fulfilled the legal requirements.
"This also brings us to the issue of dissenting voices from Isi-Uzo. It goes to no issue. We have fulfilled the legal requirements stricto sensu . Any opposition should wait for us at the point of referendum, but note that the requirements do not include 100% approval of everyone. Opposition is allowed and the 1999 CFRN takes care of it. No cause for alarm at all.
Appreciations
".Let me use this medium to thank all those who have made sacrifices to bring ADADA State request to the successes it has achieved so far: the Exco led by Chief James Ugwu, the predecessors led by Gen. Goddy Ugwoke, our illustrious sons of Igbo Nsukka, Chief Nnia Nwodo, Dr Davidson Nnamani, our Honourable Members of both Nsukka and Nkanu descent and a host of others who have contributed so much money. Nsukka remains indebted to everyone.
"Let us continue to pray to Ezechitoke Abiama that the Federal Republic of Nigeria is ready to create any State at all.
"Thanks for your patience and understanding, please". NNL.
