The death of highlife musician, Sir Victor Uwaifo, has continued to generate tributes as the former Governor of Bauchi State, Mallam Isa Yuguda, expressed shock and sadness over his demise.
Uwaifo reportedly passed on last Saturday evening at the age of 80 in his residence in Benin City, Edo State.
In a statement on Monday, August 30, 2021, in Abuja, Yuguda, a former Minister of Transport and Aviation, described Sir Victor Uwaifo death as a big loss to the entertainment industry and to the nation in general.
He said the late music icon contributed immensely to the growth of Nigeria's entertainment sector which earned him several national and international awards, including the prestigious Order of the Niger, OON.
Mallam Yuguda stated the Uwaifo "was the first Nigerian musician to get an OON, and whose musical career spread over half a century”
According to Yuguda, the master guitarist left an indelible mark on the nation's music industry, especially in the performing and creative arts.
Yuguda, who is an aspirant for the Chairmanship of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), however, expressed his condolences to Sir Uwaifo's family, the people and government of Edo State and enjoined them to bear with fortitude, the loss of the great music legend. NNL.
