The Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) has called for sustained funding and institutional support for women-led innovations, saying promising ideas require long-term investment to achieve meaningful impact.

The organisation made the call while announcing a donation of N500,000 to organisers and participants of the 2026 Eesha's Learning Foundation Bauchi Women SDGs Innovation Hackathon held at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

Representing BWSO Chief Executive Officer, Mukhtar Ahmed Jarmajo, the organisation's Public Relations Officer, Kamal Ibrahim, said many innovative ideas fail to progress beyond the conceptual stage due to inadequate mentorship, financing and incubation opportunities.

According to him, the solutions presented during the hackathon have the potential to create jobs, strengthen communities and address pressing development concerns if properly supported.

"The ideas presented here today should not end at the pitching stage," he said, urging governments, development partners, private sector organisations and community leaders to invest in emerging innovators.

Jarmajo said women and youths remain disproportionately affected by social and economic challenges, including unemployment, inequality, poor access to education and healthcare, gender-based violence and climate-related economic pressures.

He explained that BWSO's donation reflects its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote innovation, entrepreneurship and social inclusion.

The organisation also reaffirmed its dedication to youth leadership development, education, digital innovation and humanitarian interventions across Bauchi State.

Speaking at the event, Project Coordinator Aishatu Hassan Muhammad praised the organisation's contribution and expressed hope for a stronger partnership in addressing issues affecting women across the state. NNL.
