The Pentecostal Fellowship Nigeria (PFN) has appealed to the Federal Government to expedite action towards ending insecurity in Nigeria, noting that, the situation has risen to an intolerable height.
Speaking during a peaceful procession in Sokoto State at the end of her 3 days National Prayers and Fasting, PFN National President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke represented by the Sokoto State chapter chairman of PFN, Pastor Ben Musa said they have appealed to all their members spread across Nigeria to stand together in prayers for Almighty God to scatter the enemies of this country.
The visibly disturbed Sokoto state members of PFN who carried placards with different inscriptions such as, "Protect The Innocent", Nigeria Must Be Safe", No To Economic Hardship amongst several others pleaded with the federal government to stand up to its constitutional responsibly of protecting lives and properties of every Nigerian.
According to PFN, they have resolved to speak out against the evil of insecurity, "hoping that our government will give it the desired attention.
While submitting that innocent people were been kidnapped, raped and killed repeatedly, PFN decried that rather than working towards ending he scourge of blootbath, our political elites shamefully continued business as usual as if nothing was happening, "these are unspeakable and despicable acts of terror".
Continuing, PFN said, "We are burdened by the loss of our sense of humanity. We are burdened for the unchecked rampaging of bandits, murderous herdsmen killing Nigerians farmers on their farms, Boko Haram insurgents using the noble religion of Islam to perpetrate heinous violence against peaceful Nigerians, unchecked, across our national landscape.
"Most especially, we mourn the apparent lack of a firm political will by our government to crush these horrible evils in Nigeria, allowing it to spread unchecked, with empty promises that have done no good.
"Nigerians are sick and tired of this evil and the appatent misplaced focus on winning elections by all means rather than focusing the full weight of our law and federal might to crush the killers of Nigerians. Rather than doing this, our governments are "rehabilitating' our so-called repentant Boko Haram killers, even drafting them into our security network".
On what needed to be done, PFN said, they are burdened seeing how the federal government is allowing the intolerable killings becoming normal I'm Nigeria adding, "the bloods of the innocent demands more than promises. It demands immediate effective action.
"We believe that God is able and will break the vicious cycle of violence, grant our prayer for the rescue of the captives, and restore peace in out country, Nigeria". NNL.
