Wife of the 2023 governorship candidate of the people's Democratic party (PDP), Mrs Miranda Ombugadu, at the Weekend, distributed over 150,000 sets of wrappers, cooking stoves and other items to women in Nasarawa state.
Speaking at the 2024 International Women's Day celebration tagged Invest in Women: 'Accelerate Progress in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state, Mrs Ombugadu said the distribution was her modest contribution to the reduction of economic hardship being faced by Nigerians, especially the women folks.
Mrs Ombugadu while expressing confidence that if women were empowered adequately, appointed into governance, they would stimulate economic growth and add value to the nation's overall progress.
Ombugadu's wife noted further that women's contributions to the growth of Nigeria, especially Nasarawa state, were not recognized despite their numbers. She however urged the women not to relent in offering useful advice to people in authority for the betterment of the nation.
It would be recalled that the 2023 governorship candidate of the PDP, David Ombugadu, had contested the election against the incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Sule, who was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and and subsequently affirmed by the courts.
She further eulogized her husband for always being in the forefront of empowering and supporting women to reach their full potentials in their chosen fields of endeavours.
"I thank the President for being gender sensitive and friendly even though much is still being expected. We are looking forward to seeing more women in his cabinet, considering the present state of the nation I am also looking forward to seeing more women as Senators, Ministers and Governors.

Whether in agriculture, the economy, sports, politics, or entertainment, I urge you all to tap into your immense potentials, and contribute to the tremendous growth of our state and the nation.
