* Says No One Is Safe Any Longer In Nigeria

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Niger state chapter, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, has cried out over the worsening security situation in Nigeria and calls for urgent steps to check the trend, insisting that as it is today, no one is safe any longer.

Yohanna told President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Niger state Govenor, Mohammed Umar Bago, to act swiftly and end the rising and dimensional security breaches before it gets out of hand, adding that 'there is no smoke without fire'.

He lamented that, "Nigeria has nose-dived into a state of fear and uncertainties following incessant killings, including army Generals are being killed, nothing can be as despicable as that".

Most Rev. Bulus spoke during the association's Council meeting which took place at CAN state Secretariat along David Mark road, Minna last weekend.

He traced the root causes of the precarious situation bedeviling the nation to daily rise in hardship caused by unrealistic economic policies and compounded by unfulfilled promises by present day leaders at the federal, states and local government levels.

The CAN chairman who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, expressed concerns that despite the way foreign nationals are sending warning signals to their citizens not to visit some states and to vacate the FCT, Abuja for fear of attacks, Nigerian government seems not moved by such security reports.

“Who is safe and where in Nigeria today, which part of the country can one boast of safety or security? If Nigeria military Generals and senior security officers of our country can be killed just like that, then who cannot be killed?

"Nigerians no longer sleep with their eyes closed because of insecurity, “There are cases of kidnappings or abductions, killings, destruction of houses, markets, farm lands and produces are even burnt and carted away by these terrorists, very sad!

“Now, whether it is true or not, there are threats of attacks, we have seen over the social media space and even federal government’s institutions hearing of planned attacks in Abuja Nigeria seat of power and some states including Niger".

Rev. Yohanna however stated that it is unfortunate that even in government circle, there are sabotage or possibly the bad people infiltrating the establishment. He cautioned that with the leaked memo from Nigeria Customs Service on planned attacks on government’s facilities and even military base, everyone must be vigilant, security conscious and pray to God to deliver Nigeria.

While encouraging Nigerians, Christians in particular to remain steadfast in prayers because the days are evil, the Bishop Yohanna however said, “I believe that one day, good will triumph over evil”.

While calling on the President Bola Tinubu led government and Govenor Umar Bago of Niger state to act swiftly by beefing up security network in states that are more prone to attacks, the Clergy man reminded them to look inwards because, “there is no smoke without fire”.

Nevertheless, the CAN chairman who called for re-orientation and change of attitudes amongst Nigerians, warned that nothing will change in the country except we (citizens) change.

“Until we change our ways and do the right thing, we will continue to experience decline in almost all spheres of our lives”. NNL.
