Ahead of the Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections on Saturday March 18, one person have been killed and fifteen others got a high degree of injuries at Alkaleri local government area council of Bauchi state.
The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has strongly condemned the alleged attack on its supporters which resulted in the killing of one person at Duguri town in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The Director General of the party's Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Faruq Mustapha, who addressed journalists on the development, noted that one Mallam Mai'unguwa Shata, died and fifteen people sustained various degrees of injuries.
Faruq Mustapha described the action as barbaric and a desperate attempt by the opposition APC to claim the state's leadership by all means.
Meanwhile, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, has decried that some suspected hired thugs carrying dangerous unleashed an attack on the convoy of its Gubernatorial Candidate, Air Marshal Sadiq Baba Abubakar retired), at Governor Bala Mohammed's home town Duguri.
The Director, Media and Publicity, Salisu Barau, started this during a press conference at the NUJ secretariat, alleging that three people including conventional and non-conventional security agents, sustained gunshots when the APC campaign rally was being held in the area.
He argued that they were being attacked by the PDP supporters while campaigning at Duguri districts and some of their supporters got serious injuries and were move to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital for immediate medical attention.
He added that, the APC gubernatorial candidate, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar had already visited the victims at the hospital and offset all the medical expenses incurred.
NIGERIAN NEWSLEADER Newspaper Correspondent gathered that the incident was coming a few hours after the signing of the Peace Accord by all the Gubernatorial Candidates at the State Police Headquarters.
It could be also recalled that similar incidents had occurred where one person was shot dead and many sustained various degrees of injuries during the same APC campaign rallies in Akuyam, Misau and Toro LGAs respectively.
Similarly, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, also confirmed the incident of the attack, adding that an investigation has already commenced to fish out those behind the evil acts to face the wrath of the law. NNL.
