A former national secretary of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has called for the arrest and prosecution of members of Zamfara APC loyal to former governor Abdul'Aziz Yari Abubakar, over threat to take law into their hands.

Shinkafi said the threat to take law into their hands if any of their members are arrested by the police should not be treated with kid gloves, as the threat is capable of causing anarchy in the state and the country at large.

The APGA chieftain made the disclosure when addressing journalists in Gusau on Thursday.

He alleged that it is lamentable that just within just two weeks of the arrest of APC members loyal to Yari and their subsequent release, they have been increase in the series of bandits attacks and kidnappings in the state which was hitherto having relative peace.

"I am calling on President Muhammadu Buhari and the security agencies to ensure that these politicians who threatened to cause mayhem in Zamfara state are arrested and prosecuted, as it is the only way to ensure sustainable peace and security in the society," he said.

Shinkafi said various intelligence reports shows that these "frustrated politicians" are bent on taking back our state to the dark days when blood letting was the order of the day in the state.

He called for proper investigation into the telephone (audio) conversation between an APC member and a notorious bandit kingpin and some secret meetings held between the APC members and the bandits in Kaduna and Zamfara states.

"If the presidency and other security agencies fail to take appropriate action against those accused of collaborating with the bandits, then the security situation in Zamfara would be in jeopardy," he said.

Shinkafi who was the APGA 2019 governorship candidate in Zamfara state also commended governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle for his efforts at restoring security in the state.

It will be recalled that Salisu Isah, an ardent former governor Abdulazziz Yari loyalist while addressing journalists at the APC Secretariat in Gusau on 13th September, following the release of a chieftain of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed Dantabawa and 17 others, threatened that they will take the law into their hands if APC Yari loyalists are arrested by the police again.

"If the incessant arrest and detention of our members are not stopped by the police, we will be forced to take the law into our hands. Enough is enough," he threatened.

However, a member of the APC described the allegations by Shinkafi as baseless. NNL.
