In addition to announcing the Halo-themed Xbox Series X at Gamescom Opening Night Live, Microsoft also revealed that Halo Infinite would launch on December 8th, nearly a month after the Xbox Series X launches.
Limited-edition bundles were available for preorder on Wednesday at Target and the Microsoft Store. The initial preorder stock sold out quickly. CNET confirms that Walmart will give you another chance to score the Infinite-ready console on Wednesday, August 25th, at 8:30 PM ET.
You should sign in to Walmart and update your address and payment information before preorders go live with all next-gen console restocks. If you're not able to purchase a console through Walmart's website, you may also have better luck using its mobile app. Similarly, Best Buy has a bundle landing page, but no word on when preorders will open.
This Limited-edition console has gold accents, metallic plating, and a starry exterior in keeping with the franchise's celestial setting. The special-edition console was released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Halo. Also included is a downloadable copy of Halo Infinite (upon its release), a matching controller, and blue accents on the top vent rather than green. The Halo-themed power on/off sounds are even included.
Additionally, Microsoft announced a Halo-themed Xbox Elite 2 controller with a design similar to that of the bundled controller. It features a green exterior, a gold D-pad, a gold case, and a Master Chief-inspired interior. Initially, preorders at the Microsoft Store have already sold out, but it will launch for $199.99 on November 15th.
