CAPCOM RELEASES NEW PATCH FOR RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE TO FIX THE GAME'S ISSUES ON PC

By Chinua Albert Okafor @The_Robo_Rai

Having trouble playing Resident Evil Village on PC due to horrible performance? well, it's no longer an issue. Its been over three months since the port was originally released, Capcom has finally released a patch to fix compatibility issues with DRM in addition to resolving a larger performance issue, according to Eurogamer.

In certain scenes before the patch, Eurogamer reported frame rates dwindling from over 100fps to just 30fps, making the PC version of this game drastically worse than the console version. If your graphics card supports AMD's upscaling tech, you'll be able to see even better frame rates with this update.

The issues, which may be a result of DRM (though Capcom has not confirmed this), were cited both by outlets like Eurogamer and a good number of reviewers on the Steam page (though the game is still rated "Overwhelmingly Positive" overall). Players reported hitches, stutters, and fps drops, mostly during combat. This is not exactly a good time for your game's performance to tank, as reported by Eurogamer. Capcom's nightmare came true when European game sites Eurogamer and Digital Foundry found that the pirated version of the game performed much better. It seems that a patch released by a pirate called Empress that aimed at removing the DRM also resolved the performance issues, meaning that people who paid for the PC port were getting worse performance than both pirates and console players.

Furthermore, the update enabled AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution technology, which keeps frame rates playable at higher resolutions. Using this technology, you are able to play a game at a lower resolution, then upscale it to your desired resolution, as in the case of Nvidia's DLSS. However, the two technologies achieve this by entirely different means. GPU hardware drives Nvidia's version of AI, whereas AMD's tech algorithmically upscales anti-aliased frames.
