The Abia State Police Command, on Thursday, confirmed a tragic incident involving one Chinedu Anamelechi, who allegedly shot dead Ezinne Ariwodo, stabbed his girlfriend, (sister to the deceased) and also shot another young man from the area.
The incident, according to a brief statement by the Abia State Command's Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maurene Chioma Chinaka, occurred at Umuanga Amakama Community, Umuahia South Local Government Area.
Chinaka said upon receiving the report, operatives of the Command swiftly raced to the scene, where they found the lifeless body of the deceased in a pool of blood with gunshot injuries.
"The injured victims were rescued and rushed to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. The deceased was confirmed dead by medical personnel and has been deposited in the morgue for preservation and autopsy. Exhibits recovered from the scene.
"Normalcy has since been restored in the area and members of the community were advised not to take laws into their hands. Investigation is ongoing as efforts are in place to apprehend the suspect", the statement said. NNL.
