Microsoft’s all new Flight Simulator is truly a great PC game, now imagine how great it will look in VirtualReality(VR) , now thanks to Microsoft , that imagination is now closer to reality, this is because Microsoft has just unlocked signups aimed at a secure beta glimpse of the game in virtual reality.
However, with VR system requirements can get tricky and you need to consider some of them.
- Not only do you have to own a copy of the game.
- you also have to own a Windows Mixed Reality headset.
- and be a listed Microsoft Flight Simulator “Insider” and sign an NDA.
you’ll probably be needing a higher GPU powering your pc than what is needed for the base game— Talking about at least an NVidia GeForce GTX 1080 or a better Graphics processor with 8GB of VRAM and above (a more powerful GPU with 6GB VRAM will run this game also) 0, also accompanied by at least 16GB of RAM.
Microsoft will also ask for verification in form of your PC’s DxDiag report, (press Windows key + R, type “dxdiag”, hit Enter to see yours) this is so Microsoft can approve those specs ensure you won’t be hit with any BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) or system failures, trust me every gamer hates these.
(DxDiag basically takes inventory of your system, but it does also list recent application crashes.)
Microsoft hasn’t said anything about when the beta will begin, so hold onto your Oculus, HTC, or other VR headset, as there’ll be a second wave of closed beta for other devices as well.
Microsoft might want to be thoughtful with the VR rollout, because the game has literally brought most beast gaming PCs to their knees (talk about eating CPU for lunch). Even the new Nvidia RTX 3080 ran it at “can it run Microsoft Flight Simulator mode” (High settings though) not with full 3080 performances, but this is partially due to some CPU bottlenecking but you get the idea.
Even though there have been better framerate optimizations and increases with recent updates so the game will most likely improve before the main release of the game.
