Authorities of the Department of State Service (DSS) has announced the release of the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Mr Abdul Rasheed Bawa, from detention.

Bawa was arrested by the nation's spy organisation, the DSS, some months ago, quizzed and detained in the Service facility over some alleged official misconduct. He had remained there without further information about him.

But the DSS through by its Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Dr Peter Afunnanya, announced that Bawa has regained his freedom.

Dr Afunnanya made this known in a brief statement on Wednesday evening, thus: "DSS confirms release of former EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, a few hours ago (today 25th October, 2023)". NNL.
