There is apprehension in Takum LGA in Taraba South as gunshots rent the air in a clash between Kuteb ethnic groups and Fulanis.

A reliable source who don't want his name disclosed told NIGERIAN NEWSLEADER Newspaper Correspondent in a telephone conversation that the Kuteb youths in retaliation to the brutal fulanis killing in the area, killed two Fulani youth who were transporting their cows off the town.

“Kuteb youth attacked two Fulani boys, killed them and cut off the heads of their cow in retaliation, today being cow market day in Takum town. When they heard of the killings, they, in retaliation, killed two kutebs youths and burned them including the shops belonging to other tribes. They also blocked roads and shot in the air sporadically”.

According to the source, the crisis is taking a religious coloration, as many shops belonging to Christians have been burnt.

Details are still being expected but Takum and Ussa LGAs in Taraba South have been hot beds of recent clashes between the Fulani and Kuteb ethnic groups, leading to loss of several lives and property, and causing a huge humanitarian crisis.
