In the early hour of Tuesday November 16, 2021, Gunmen suspected to be Tiv militias wrecked havoc in Rafin Kada ward of Wukari local government area of Taraba state, killing two, injuring scores people and destroying properties worth millions of naira.
A source told NIGERIAN NEWSLEADER Correspondent in Jalingo, that the attack happened around 4 am on Tuesday, when Gunmen in their numbers stormed the village and began to shoot sporadically and setting houses ablaze.
Recall that the land dispute between the Jukun ethic groups of Taraba and the Tiv in Benue over the borderlands and farming land led to the ethnic crisis in 2019 killings of thousands of people.
The source confirmed that, one Mr Chala, and Saikaso were shot dead instantly while several others sustained injury.
Speaking to one of the victim, Magai Tsokwa whose house and property were set ablaze, he said in tears thus: "We thought the crisis has finished. We all have returned back to our normal activities, but all of sudden, this happened. We are saddened and we call on the government to put an end to this lingering crisis", he said.
When Contacted for comment, the chairman of Wukari local government area, Adi Daniel Grace, confirmed the attack and said the security on ground are working towards apprehending culprit. NNL.
