There was apprehension as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Alpha-Jet lost contact with radar in Borno State, while on an interdiction mission in support of ground troops.
It was reported that the mission was part of the counter-insurgency operations in the North East.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the spokesman of the Directorate of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), made this revelation in a statement in Abuja.on Wednesday.
He stated that the loss of radar contact occurred on Wednesday, March 31th 2021 at about 5:08 pm. According to Gabkwet, details of the whereabouts of the aircraft or why it lost contact with the radar were yet to be known.
The NAF PRO however assured that the public will soon be briefed as more developments unfold. Commodore Gabkwet also stated that the search and rescue operation is currently ongoing. NNL.
