Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has re-emphasized that the security situation in Nigeria should be of great concern to all and sundry.
According to Tambuwal, this calls for genuine engagement of all stakeholders especially, the traditional and religious leaders. He said no part of Nigeria is safe today.
"We are however happy on the degree of assistance being given by all our traditional and religious leaders in the State. We are also appealing to the traditional leaders to please give privileged information about the bad eggs in their communities. We will always ensure that the identities of those traditional or religious leaders who give us such Intelligence information are never disclosed.
"Therefore, I am appealing to all of you to please give us useful intelligence towards bringing to an end, this ugly development of insecurity in the country", Gov Tambuwal further appealed.
Speaking at the State Presidential Villa when the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar 111 alongside other traditional leaders of the State paid him the annual Salah homage, Tambuwal stated that the Sultan is one individual that gives his support at all times to the government of Sokoto State.
According to Tambuwal, the Sultan has been strongly behind most of the successes of his government since the assumption of office.
While appealing to leaders not to discriminate against anybody on whatever basis, the governor noted that leaders must have lots of good things before them than to envy anybody. . On the ongoing nationwide strike action by the legislative and judiciary workers, governor Tambuwal said those in Sokoto merely joined just to fulfil all righteousness.
"We have a good relationship with judiciary and legislative workers in the State. But we can understand that they just joined the ongoing strike to fulfil all righteousness" .
Speaking earlier, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar 111, said they were at the Sokoto State government house to pay Sallah homage to the State Government as it's always the tradition.
"The presence of nearly all the traditional leaders showed the extent of love they all have for the governor and the government of Sokoto State".
The Sultan who noted that the advice of traditional and religious leaders are very important towards the success of any government, however, added that elected leaders on their part must distinguish between politicking and governance.
"Let's come together for governance after politicking. Let leaders hold it at the back of their minds that all their subjects require their attention when they get to offices. Let them remember that they are accountable to those that voted for them and even those who voted against them, hence the need to treat all with fairness".
The Sultan further called on Nigerians to continue to observe all the Covid 19 protocols, as according to him, the pandemic is not over yet.
While commending Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for his massive drive towards entrenching education in the State, the Sultan further assured that they will support Tambuwal as governor and even after the end of his tenure for any other position he might vie for.
Talking about the ongoing nationwide strike action by the judiciary and legislative workers, the Sultan appealed to them to suspend the strike and come to a round table discussion for peaceful negotiation.
"Strike action does not bring a solution, rather it brings more confusion. And the place of justice cannot be over-emphasized if the country is to move forward. Therefore, I am calling on all of them to please resume work as I will be very willing, alongside others, to intervene, including reaching out to the presidency on how best to urgently resolve the lingering strike action".
Looking at the harsh economic realities of the country, Sultan urged the government at all levels to have priorities, adding that government cannot do everything for all her citizens at all time. NNL.
