Renowned Nollywood Thespian, Ada Ameh, popularly known as 'Emu' in a famous Tv sitcom, 'The Johnsons', is reportedly dead. She died at age 48.
The actress, a negative of Idoma, in the Southern Senatorial District of Benue state, North Central Nigeria, was said to have suddenly collapsed and passed on in Warri, Delta state, at about 11pm on Sunday.
According to reports from an Online news site, Idoma Voice, Ada Ameh was said to have been battling depression for sometime due to a range of issues bothering on serial loss of family members including her only daughter and a major court case.
“Ameh was said to have been a guest of an oil company toyshop and his family when she suddenly collapsed,” the report said on Monday morning, July 18, 2022. She recently opened up about her mental health case when she appeared as a celebrity guest in a popular morning Tv program on TVC called 'My View'.
Recently, the actress confessed on her Instagram platform that she was given a job which she failed to deliver on as a result of her battles with mental health. She said the company was unaware of the enormity of the mental health challenge before slamming a lawsuit against her.
According to the famous actress who has been in the performing Arts industry for about 27 years, the company sued her for a huge sum of money beyond what she could easily afford. Ameh further claimed that the lawsuit had been a source of strain on her overall health generally, but would not allow such problem to depress or kill her.
In October 2020, actress Ada Ameh lost her 30 year-old only daughter called Aladi Godgift, following an unsuccessful surgery in Abuja. “It is taking my life", she confessed, adding that “I have an issue right now that can take my life, but I won’t die. We would get over it.
"I was given a job but didn’t do it because I have mental health issues. Will people understand it if you have mental issues? No, they wouldn’t. They are slamming me with a bill, suing me. It’s okay”, she lamented with philosophical calmness.
Amen disclosed in an interview with an interviewer, Chude Jideonwo, in November last year, that she gave birth to her late daughter at the age. She stated that her daughter's death has greatly affected her life. NNL.
