Renowned gospel crooner, Mrs Osinachi Nwachukwu, whose death on April 8 this year was alleged to have been caused by her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, was finally buried today (Saturday) in her home town, Isuochi Umunneochi, Abia state.
Osinachi was not buried in her husband's home town in Nnewi, Anambra state as most Igbo customs and tradition demands owing to the controversial circumstances of her death. Her body arrived at exactly 12:15pm on Saturday at Amakpoke Umuaku community, Abia State, for the commencement of her internment.
Earlier, a night of worship was organised in Abuja in her memory as part of her burial activities on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Same Thursday also, a Night of Prayer took place in her hometown, Isuochi, in Umunneochi on Thursday.
Some fellow gospel singers graced the burial event at the weekend amidst sporadic wailing by family members, friends, colleagues and associates. A dust to dust rite was performed before her burial.
Osinachi's sudden death which was alleged to have resulted from domestic violence and abuses said to have been consistently inflicted on her by her husband, drew a national outrage which led to several calls for the arrest and prosecution of her accused husband, Mr Peter Nwachukwu, who is currently standing trial before an Abuja FCT High Court.
Nwachukwu who had denied his involvement in the alleged domestic violence against his wife, Osinachi, however claimed that she died of cancer of the lung. He is presently on remand at the Kuje Correctional Center (Prison), Abuja. NNL.
