The Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Taraba State, has put in place arrangements to interact with candidates striving for political office in the State.

According to a press statement signed by Secretary of the Chapel, Femi Bolaji, the maiden media engagement would provide the platform for the candidates to "reel out their plans for the State and the Federal and State constituencies if elected for the position they are vying for".

The media engagement which would be streamed live on a dedicated Facebook page "Taraba Correspondents’ Chapel Media Parley, The Road to 2023”, would also feature political stakeholders, civil society organisations, traditional and religious institutions as well as security agencies who are expected to sensitize the citizens on the new electoral law and how democracy can be deepened.

The statement also added that the 33 members of the union who represent various national and international media (Electronic and Print) organisations would have a mini press interaction with guests.

According to the Chairman of Taraba State Correspondents’ Chapel, Gabriel Yough, the initiative is the union’s modest contribution to their host State. He enjoined residents of Taraba state to follow this process to the latter to make an informed decision about their future in 2023.

He also encouraged Candidates of all political parties for Governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and various State Constituencies to take advantage of the forum.

Also, the Chairman, of the Organising Committee of the Media Parley, Saidu Sadiq Adamu, said the forum would not be a platform to settle political scores, but one where politicians would tell citizens of Taraba state what they would do to better their lives if voted into power. NNL.
