The Bauchi State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has called on the security operatives to intensify efforts towards checking the activities of the hoodlums by ensuring the protection of the lives and property of the citizens in the State.

This was contained in a communique signed by Isah Garba Gadau, NUJ Secretary Bauchi Chapter at the end of its congress meeting held at its secretariat in the state.

Congress also made ratification on the nomination of a seven-member electoral committee for onward transmission to the National Secretariat for approval, to conduct fresh election into the offices of the State Working Committee.

The union also urged its members to continue to operate within the ambit of the NUJ constitution and code of ethics to avoid misinformation and ensure that they fact-check their stories to uphold their integrity which is instrumental to the pillars of democracy.

The members also recommended the National Secretariat of the union under the able leadership of Mr Chief Chris Isiguzo, for supporting the Bauchi Council to record the huge success and to also pass a vote of confidence on the leadership of the State Working Committee of the union under Comrade Umar Sa'idu.

The Bauchi NUJ further commended the Bauchi State Government for its effort in revitalizing the state-owned media organisations, urging it to hasten the completion of the upgrade of the organisations.

The Congress, during the session, called on the Jos Electricity Distribution Company to improve on its power supply system and to also address the issue of excessive billings.

The Congress witnessed the attendance of one hundred and three members. It was also commended and blessed by the Managing Director of the Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC), Chindo Waziri; Acting Managing Director, of Bauchi State Television (BATV) Usman Baba and the Chairman of the Advisory Council, Ibrahim Idris Shall.

The election was supervised by the National ex-officio, Abubakar Musa Waziri and came up with the resolutions. NNL.
