The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Diamond Awards for Media Excellence (DAME) has nominated veteran Journalist and Publisher of NewsPot Online to be honoured with the fellowship of the highly regarded media body.
According to a statement on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 by the BoT Chairman of DAME, Mr Lanre Idowu, notifying Mr Olamiti of the plan for the conferrment of the fellowship award at the 30th Edition of the DAME Media Awards, he said the honour is in recognition of Olamiti's positive contributions to the development of Nigerian Journalism.
He told the former editor of Tribune Newspapers that, "The Trustees acknowledge your steady commitment to responsible journalism evidenced in your output since the 1970s when you embraced the profession and are happy to honour you with this fellowship, which is designed for media professionals who remain shining examples of those who elevate mediacraft without grandstanding.
"DAME holds that a country like Nigeria deserves to nurture a culture of appreciation through which genuine achievers are honoured without solicitation. We will be delighted to have you to join us on Sunday, 19 December 2021, at the Shell Hall of Muson Centre, Onikan to receive the recognition", Idowu stated.
Mr Folu Olamiti, a foremost journalist and one of the most respected media professional in Nigeria recently turned the Septugenarian age of 70 years. He is also prolific writer and consummate media manager who has mentored several younger generations of Nigerian journalists in the past decades of his glorious career.
The veteran newsman is currently a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE). He is also the Chairman of ACNN, Abuja. NNL.
