As the 2027 general elections is gathering momentum, former President Olusegun Obasanjo visited Minna, Niger state capital and met with his counterpart, former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB).
Photographs of the Monday's visit to the ex-military Head of State at his Minna hilltop residence has given credence to speculations about the behind-the-scene moves by Obasanjo to ensure that the election is not just credibile but that the right candidate emerged President in the next political dispensation.
Obasanjo was received on arrival at the Ahmed Bola Tinubu International Airport, Minna by the state government house Protocol and was immediately driven to the IBB residence.
The closed meeting between the Nigeria's two former Military leaders lasted for about 30 minutes, and Obasanjo thereafter returned to his destination through same airport.
Some of the pictures also showed how visiting Obasanjo felt at home with the younger IBBs, Aisha, the first and Mohammed the second child of the former first family who were on hand and available to welcome former President Obasanjo to their home.
Meanwhile, political analysts are taking notes of the timing of the former President's visit to IBB who is believed by many to be retired, but not too tired to contribute to the actualization of emerging new Nigeria.
Feelers however had it that the visit is not unconnected to the 2027 elections and what Nigerians expected from elder statesmen of IBB and Obasanjo standing.
The visit by former President Obasanjo, some analysts insists can never be personal at this moment, but has something to do with unfolding events in the build up to the 2027 general elections which are already gaining momentum.
Reports also had it that in recent years, Nigeria's good diplomatic image globally have not been at its best, and this according to sources prompted Obasanjo to step out towards ensuring that the situation does not further deteriorate.
"It is no longer about political party interests, party loyalty or affiliations, but how to save Nigeria in 2027 and beyond", the political analysts have reasoned. NNL.
