A former lawmaker for Wukari Constituency at the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Daniel Ishaya Gani, has resigned his appointment as a Special Adviser to governor Darius Dickson Ishaku.
Gani, who tendered his resignation letter through the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), on Monday, February 14, 2022, gave no reasons for his sudden decision.
The two time Member of the Taraba State Assembly who spoke with NIGERIAN NEWSLEADER Newspaper correspondent on telephone, also claimed that he has formerly decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His resignation and defection from the ruling PDP to the opposition APC came barely a week after the Sale Ahmadu, a Special Adviser to the governor, Sale Ahmadu, threw in the towel.
In a copy of the resignation letter made available to NEWSLEADER correspondent, Gani, paid a glowing tribute to late "Mama Taraba", Senator Alhassan Jumai Aisha, whom he described as his political mentor.
Stressing how late Mama Taraba impacted on him positively and on his appointment as a Special Adviser to the incumbent governor, he admitted to have been influenced by late Senator Aisha.
Though, he gave no reason for his actions, our correspondent however gathered that his move was necessitated following the recent defection of the Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha from PDP to APC.
A closed political association of him, told our correspondent that "Gani decided to bow out of PDP to APC because of the lack of internal democracy in the PDP. "
On why he also resigned his appointment, Gani's associate who craved anonymity, said, "he also resigned because since he was appointed, he has not been assigned any result by the governor."
The associate, who as at the time of filing this report still remains a member of the PDP, said plans are already in the pipeline for some of Gani's supporters in Wukari local government council to dump the PDP for APC." NNL.
