* Says 'You Are Public Servants, Not Masters'

By Chinelo Ogbodo (Enugu State Correspondent)

Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has admonished officers of his Command to always regard themselves as public servants who are duty-bound to serve citizens with professionalism and diligence, and never as masters over the people.

He gave this warning during his monthly strategic conference with senior officers held at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess, Agbani Road, Enugu.

During the conference, the state police boss relayed recent directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which cautioned officers against involvement in land and other civil matters.

The directives also condemned the duplication and parallel investigation of the same cases across multiple Commands, formations, or offices - practices that waste valuable man-hours and undermine the image of the Force.

He further warned against unlawful and prolonged detention, among other unprofessional conducts.

The Commissioner charged officers to remain disciplined, hardworking, and committed to sustaining the Command’s proactive and results-driven crime-fighting strategies.

The conference was attended by Deputy and Assistant Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Commanding Officers of Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadrons, as well as Heads of Tactical, Operational, Investigative, and Administrative Units. NNL.
