No fewer than 490 small holder farmers across Bauchi State have benefited from a cash and livestock empowerment programme launched by the Office of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in partnership with AUDA-NEPAD.
The beneficiaries, drawn from the 20 local government areas of the state, received N5.5 million and 108 goats to support agricultural productivity and improve household incomes.
The Director-General of the SDGs Bauchi State Office, Mrs Lydia Shehu Gar, said the initiative was designed to strengthen smallholder farmers and enhance food security across the state.
According to her, beneficiaries are expected to rear the goats for multiplication rather than sell them, while cash recipients are encouraged to reinvest the funds into productive ventures.
She noted that SDGs officials would monitor the programme to ensure sustainability and long-term impact. NNL.
