Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has issued a stern warning to stakeholders on Education in the state to redouble their efforts in ensuring improvement on pupils enrolment in their respective communities.
These comprising leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Bauchi State chapter, Honourable Commissioners, local government committee chairmen and Education Secretaries, stating that his administration will not condone nor tolerate any act of sabotage, eye-service, pretence or political expedience. He said it is time to focus on reviving the education sector.
Governor Mohammed spoke on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 when he chaired a strategic meeting at the Bauchi Government House where he lamented that the educational planning is appalling as a result of lack of teachers participation to classes, saying "I will soon declare a state of emergency in the sector".
The governor, who, during the session gave a matching order that all schools be enumerated, said it is a must to develop sustainable technical capacity for procurement and supervision as this will ensure nobody cheats the state and go unpunished.
While commending the BESDA, FG, UNICEF and the World Bank for their contributions, Mohammed said his administration will continue to provide matching counterpart grants, hence the need for LEA secretaries to come up with the list of all dilapidated schools in their respective domains.
While reiterating his administration's commitment to building mega schools in each local government area, Governor Bala said anybody found creating spare political influence for himself in the process rather than the state will be sacked and dealt with decisively.
The meeting had in attendance, the State PDP Chairman, Koshe Hamza Akuyam, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ibrahim Kashim, representatives of the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) among other dignitaries. NNL.
