No fewer than twenty-five thousand ad-hoc staff will be engaged in seasonal malaria chemo prevention across the twenty local government area councils in this year's exercise in the State.

Besides that, the state government had made all necessary arrangements to embark on the exercise and also targeted two million eligible children for campaigning in the State.

This was revealed by the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Agency for the Control of HIV&AIDS Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Malaria (BACATMA), Dr Sabiu Adamu Gwallabe at the stakeholders meeting, Thursday in Bauchi.

He noted that the intervention of SMC has reduced significantly the burden of infection in the State. And pointed out that the intervention has also reduced morbidity and mortality rate of children due to malaria infection diseases.

The commissioner commended the efforts of the malaria consortium for implementing the seasonal malaria chemo prevention project, which he described as timely and it's inline with the State government's priority aimed at improving health care services, especially for pregnant women under five (U5) children in the State.

He reiterated the state government's commitment to providing health care services to the benefit of the common people and call on all stakeholders as well as ad-hoc personnel to be engaged to observe the laid down rules and regulations during the conduct of the exercise to achieve the set goals and objectives of the project.
