No fewer than 179,343 persons in Sokoto State has so far taken their Covid-19 vaccination, Suleiman Ahmed has said.

Suleiman, who is the Focal Person of the State Electronic Management of Immunization Data (EMID) made the disclosure Monday at a one day USAID-Breakthrough sponsored media orientation workshop on Covid 19 Mass Vaccine Campaign in Sokoto.

Giving overview on the situation analysis of Covid 19 vaccination in Sokoto, the EMID Focal Person said more males are taking the vaccine compared to women in the State.

He further divulged that the State has so far received 108,413 doses of Astrazeneca, 38,318 doses of Moderna and 32,613 doses of Pfizer.

While noting that every platform we have counts and should be use to tell our audiences about Covid 19 reality, Mr Eze Eze of the Breakthrough Action Nigeria (BA-N) said the media must be valued at all times hence they help to ensure the critical role of informing, educating, entertaining and enlightening the populace.

Mr Eze who appealed to quoted FH Rogue as saying, "the media can effectively, quickly and perhaps cheaply promote a good idea, a cause or a program...or can just easily kill it".

Speaking on, "The Role Of The Media In Implementation of Covid 19 Mass Vaccination Campaign, Mr Eze decried that there is still a disturbing degree of hesitancy of Covid 19 vaccination in Nigeria despite its availability.

Mr Eze further imagined why should people be in the hesitancy circle over misconceptions about Covid 19 vaccines without any scientifically proven reasons.

He also appealed to media practitioners to also be careful and tackle infodemic by striving ti equip themselves with facts about Covid 19 as much as possible to stop misconceptions, rumours and false information. NNL.
