Hundreds of sympathizers gathered this afternoon in Sokoto to witness the final laying to rest of late Hajiya A'ishatu Ahmadu Bello, the eldest daughter of the first and only Premier of Northern Nigeria, late Sir Ahmadu Bello(Sardauna of Sokoto),
A'ishatu Ahmadu Bello died in a Dubai hospital last week Friday after a protracted ailment.
Leading the funeral prayers, the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Jumaat Mosque, Sokoto, Sheikh Malami Liman Akwara prayed Allah to grant her soul Aljanat Fidaus and give the children,Sokoto, north and Nigerians the furtitute to bear the loss.
The State metropolis was filled to it's brim with dignitaries from all works of life in attendance to bid A'ishatu Ahmadu Bello final farwell as her remain were laid to rest at the historic Magajin Garin Sokoto cemetery in Binanchi according to Islamic injunctions.
Amongst the dignitaries that witness the funeral prayers were Sokoto State governor, Amimu Waziri Tambuwal, former governor of the State and Senator representing Sokoto North, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan, Senate Leader, Dr Yahaya Abdullahi; Senators Ibrahim Gobir, Danjuma Goje, Abubakar Shehu Tambuwal and Garba Ila Gada.
Eulogizing the deceased Ai'shatu Ahmadu Bello, on behalf of other dognitiaries, the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan said, "Death is one of the phases in our lives and all mortals must taste it .Her death is a national loss . "We will miss her forever as she was a proud Mother to all Nigerians"
Others dignitaries at the funeral included Africa's richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, governors Maimala Buni of Yobe State and his Kano counterpart, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Former Zamfara State governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, former deputy governor, Ahmad Muhammad Gusau, former deputy governor of Sokoto State and now Executive Secretary, Police Trust Fund, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, the eldest son of the deceased, Alhaji Hassan Ahmad Danbaba,, Wazirin Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, Secretary to the Sokoto State Government, Alhaji Sa'idu Umar, AAmbassadors Sahabi Isah Gada, Shehu Malami, billionaire Alhaji Dahiru Mangal and retired General Aliyu Gusau.
Also in the list of prominent personalities present are the former Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and now an INEC National Commissioner, Professor Abdullahi Zuru and the Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University, Professor Muhammadu Sani Dangoggo
Others are religious and traditional leaders from across the country who thronged the State to sympathize with the State and immediate family of the deceased.
Late Hajiya A'ishatu Ahmadu Bello died at the age of 75 and she is survived by five children and a younger sister, who is the last daughter of the late Premier and wife of the late Marafan Sokoto, Alhaji Umaru Aliyu Shinkafi.
Among her children is Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Ahmad Danbaba and the wife of Ambassador Shehu Malami, Sarkin Sudan. NNL.
