The 2023 gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party (LP) in Niger state, Dr. Joshua Bawa has advised Governor Mohammed Umar Bago to end water scarcity that has not only grounded many businesses but brought untold hardship and pains on the citizens.
Bawa who also served as Chief of Staff to former Governor Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu wants Governor Bago to suspend part of the ongoing flyover construction to enable him urgently tackle prevailing water scarcity being experienced in parts of the state, Minna the state capital and environs in particular.
Bawa gave the advise on Monday, shortly after his formal movement into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and presented with membership card by the party's National Chairman, Senator David Mark, represented by their National Women leader, Mrs. Naomi Lasara Abel.
Bawa who said he's not against what Governor Bago and the All Progressives Congress (APC) may see as part of achievement, but the sufferings of the masses should be weighed side-by-side his individual intrest to make a name for himself.
The former LP governorship candidate, speaking before hundreds of people that gathered at Vagosh Hotel, Minna to witness his movement and that of other decampees from other political party to the ADC that there's need for Governor Bago to get his priority right by addressing the immediate needs of the populace.
"Maybe they are not telling him the truth about what the masses are going through and what they need. Water is life, unfortunately this essential to life is being denied Nigerlites now that they needed it most".
He further pointed out that, "Not everybody has car or automobile that use roads or flyovers, only few people have cars, but every home and everybody need water".
"Maybe the people around him are not telling him the truth about sufferings of the populace. I advice the Governor to urgently resolve water related problems the people are going through".
He said, "I am not against constructing flyovers, but they are too many going on at same time. I suggest he should select at least two and finish it, then complete others later, so that he can get water from Bosso dam enough to solve the water challenges".
Earlier, the state party chairman, Alhaji Alhassan Musa expressed gladness with Dr. Joshua Bawa, his supporters and others from other political parties in Niger state for taking the bold step to join ADC.
The party chairman who expressed regrets about the sufferings inflicted on Nigerians by the APC administration solicited for the support of all Nigerians, ADC members and supporters in particular to vote out the APC in the 2027 general elections. NNL.
