Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has signed the reduction of Ministries in the state from Twenty Five (25) to Twenty One (21) and a general restructuring of the ministries.

In a statement by Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, Secretary to the Government of the State (SSG), governor Kefas said the measure is to cut wastage in government and eliminate duplication of functions,

“In response to the evolving challenges in Taraba State, His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has approved a comprehensive restructuring of Ministries to ensure efficiency, supervision, and service delivery.

“The previous unwieldy structure of 25 ministries has been revised to align with the States changing needs and promote interdepartmental cooperation. The restructuring is to streamline processes, optimize resource utilization, and address socio-economic and infrastructural priorities effectively”.

The newly approved Ministries are Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Digital Economy and Innovation, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Energy and Economic Development.

Others are: Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Ministry of Heritage and Ecotourism Ministry of Health, Ministry of Information and Reorientation, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Ministry of Rural and Urban Development.

The others include: Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Special Duties and Social Services, Ministry of Social Justice and Reintegration, Ministry of Transportation Development, Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, Ministry of Water Management and Aquatic Affairs, Ministry of Works and Infrastructural Development, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

Part of the restructuring includes the domiciliation of the State Planning Commission, Bureau for Local Government, Tradition and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bureau for Land and Survey and Bureau for Solid Minerals in the office of the governor. NNL.
