Barely four weeks after his self isolation on the recommendation of the NCDC, governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi, has tested negative for the corona virus infection which he had earlier contracted.
This was confirmed in a statement the governor personally signed and issued on Friday in Ebonyi. Governor Umahi's daughter and three of his close aides also tested negative for the virus, according to the statement.
An elated governor Umahi was grateful to God for his recovery. He expressed his gratitude to the people of Ebonyi for their fervent prayers and support to him and his government during the period of his isolation and treatment.
Recall that the governor, his daughter and some of his close aides reportedly tested positive, following a Covid-19 test carried out on them by the Ebonyi state National Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
According to governor Umahi, they were not manifesting symptoms of the virus, but they were however isolated in line with the laid down protocols by the NCDC.
While in isolation, the state's Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, was mandated by the governor to assume responsibility for some key aspect of the state's affairs as well as oversight coordination of the state’s efforts in the management of the Covid-19 pandemic in Ebonyi state. NNL.
