A prominent Igbo community leader and Chairman of the Non-Indigene Forum in Jahi District of Abuja, Hon. Johnbosco Ezenwaka, has officially joined the race for the Gwarinpa Ward councillorship seat in the forthcoming area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the platform of the Labour Party (LP).
Ezenwaka picked the party’s nomination form at the Labour Party Secretariat in Abuja, signaling his formal entry into the contest and drawing significant attention from stakeholders within and outside the Gwarinpa political landscape.
Receiving the aspirant, the FCT Chairman of the Labour Party, Diugwu Peter Chukwuemeka, described Ezenwaka’s decision as a bold and timely step. He commended the aspirant for his loyalty, sacrifice, and continued contribution to the growth of the party, noting that his commitment, coupled with the N1 million form fee, reflects both readiness and capacity for public service.
According to Chukwuemeka, “Hon. Ezenwaka has proven himself a worthy contender. He is a party man to the core. His integrity, grassroots connection, and dedication place him in a position as good as already elected. The LP remains the only party with polling-unit-level structures even in Gwarinpa Ward. We uphold internal democracy, even amid challenges, and will continue to ensure that merit prevails.”
Similarly, Hon. Festus Agbazue, a former House of Representatives candidate, expressed confidence in Ezenwaka’s aspiration, affirming that the party is backing an aspirant with demonstrable leadership qualities and community development credentials. “He has shown capacity and a genuine desire to uplift the people,” Agbazue said.
In his address, Hon. Ezenwaka pledged to consolidate on his contributions to Jahi and neighboring communities, promising an inclusive and development-driven leadership if elected. “This is a continuation of what I have started empowering our people, enhancing development, and ensuring every resident of Gwarinpa Ward is carried along,” he stated.
As part of his consultation and traditional courtesy, the aspirant visited key traditional leaders to seek their blessings and support. He was warmly received by the Village Head of Jahi 1, Alhaji Adamu Dodo, who described him as a true son of the community and assured him of the elders' support. “You have demonstrated respect for our customs by coming here first. You have our blessings,” the chief said.
Ezenwaka also paid homage to the Chief of Kado, HRH Mallam Suleiman Dodo, represented by Ali Ada, who applauded the aspirant’s grassroots engagement and described his visit as a mark of humility and seriousness in the political journey ahead. NNL.
