Countdown to the 2027 general elections, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state has called on the executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at state and Local Government (LG) levels to end their differences and ensure lasting peace amongst all members.
The need to reconcile all aggrieved members especially from the Ward level across the 25 LG levels, according to the Governor, has become necessary to avoid losing the state to opposition party in the 2027 general elections.
Governor Bago spoke at separate meetings with the Kontagora Local Government and the Zone C party secretariat in Kontagora, headquarters of Zone C Senatorial district.
Addressing the APC leadership, members/stakeholders from the zone, Bago who is said to be disturbed by reports of the in-fighting reminded them that they were doing great harm to themselves and the party in particular if the APC loses general acceptability it enjoyed because of internal squabbles.
While emphasizing the need for unity and patriotism amongst all party members and stakeholders, Governor Bago expressed his preparedness to ensure developmental spreads down to the grassroots level/Ward Development Projects which can be truncated if the party is engulfed in crisis.
To prevent escalation of the intra-party crisis, Governor promised to se up a Committee that would collaborate with the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs/Rural Development to reconcile aggrieved parties.
Governor Bago told the part members that huge sum of money has been set aside for grassroots development, to provide basic social amenities encouraged party members to eschew all bitterness, join hands and work for the growth and development of the state.
Bago also reminded them that it was time to appreciate not only citizens for voting the party by remaining committed to giving back to the party to strengthen it ahead of 2027 through reaffirmed loyalty to the APC.
Also speaking, the APC Deputy Chairman (North Central), Alhaji Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, expressed appreciation to Governor Umar Bago for his people-oriented policies and programmes that have had direct positive impact on the citizenry. NNL.
