To be able to stay alive, hundred of armless locals from several villages in Shagari local government area of Sokoto state have fled their homes in search of safety after bandits incursion, locals and authorities confirmed.

The forced mass displacement which affected villages of Tungar-Barke, Lungu, Aske-Dodo, Tungar-Doruwa, Zango, ‘Yan Yandu, Tungar Na’anza, Ila, among others has hightened fears of humanitarian crisis according to Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA)

SEMA alongside National Emergency Management Agency during a joint assessment visit to the temporary settlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the 30 Houses Estate in Shagari town on Friday met with community leaders from the affected areas.

Among those consulted were Hakimin ‘Yan Dundaji, Malam Muhammad Bello Magaji, and Maigarin Tungar-Barke, Muhammadu Tudu, who confirmed that the attack, which occurred three days earlier, displaced residents of multiple villages.

With pains and agony visibly written over their faces, they displaced locals appealed for urgent government intervention, particularly the provision of security in their villages, to enable them return sadly to their homes and continue their farm

Recalling their nightmarish experience the day the bandits strock their village, one of the villagers said the attackers are simply demon incanates. NNL.
