* Pleads With Former Players To Support The Association And Sponsor Monthly League

Chairperson Niger State Squash Association (NSSA), Mrs. Taiwo Akinkoye has admonished both old and new Squash players to be more committed to excel even as she pleaded with former state players to support the association to sponsor the monthly league.

Taiwo Akinkoye made the declaration shortly after the presentation of diffrent cash prizes to diffrent categories of winners in the 1st 2026, monthly Squash league which took place at the Minna Sports club, David Mark road, Tunga, Minna over the weekend.

Taiwo, the one time number One national seed player who played for Niger state told the 34 players that registered for the diffrent categories that the league is organized with the intents of preparing them for greater exploits at local and international levels hence the need to approach the league with all seriousness.

While commending the sponsors of first in the year, 2026 league, Segun & Regina "SEGREG", a couple who were once players in Niger state for investing in the championship, the Chairperson called on other former players to support the monthly sporting event in order to build a future for the upcoming Squash champions.

She told the players, "This monthly Squash league is for you, if you want to become somebody in Squash or to make a name for yourself in Squash world. Approach it with all seriousness".

The NSSA Chairperson encouraged both old and new players to be committed to evolving new tactics and stamina building without which it will not be easy for them to compete favourably with their counterpart across Nigeria and other countries.

Meanwhile, nine years old John Emmanuel who emerged winners in the junior category of the, 1st 2026 monthly NSSA Squash league said his plan is to become a soldier when he grew up, to join in the fight against terrorists and insecurity generally.

John who is a primary 4 pupil said he wants to be enlisted in the Nigerian Army so that he can join forces to end insecurity that have turned many people in his state, Benue into refugees.

Out of the 34 that registered for the first in the year, 2026 senior, intermediate and junior squash categories league sponsored by, "SEGREG"; Aliyu Ibrahim, Isaac Afokhai and Emmanuel John emerged winners in their respective categories. NNL.
