Out-going Governor of Taraba State, Darius Dickson Ishaku, as part of his campaign promises to provide clean water in the state, has commissioned a 5.8 million liter of water reservoir in Jalingo.

During the commissioning of the water project on Tuesday, governor Ishaku said that 4 years ago he had assured that 90 percent of the state will have access to portable clean water before he exits office at the expiration of his second tenure in 2023.

According to him, “I welcome you to this wonderful project, a multi million litre water tank project. Who ever sees this project will remember me. It's a moment of joy as we commission this project. I've made a promise to provide water in the state and I've fulfilled it. Today, as I speak, we've gotten award on water man of the year on several platforms. We built this not just for water supply, but as a recreational center where people will come all over the state to relax.

"As I was coming to commission this project, I looked for a particular picture I snapped nine years ago where women were fetching water in a pond where pigs were also drinking water from the same pond. I could not find the picture because my all office has already been swept to give room for the in-coming governor”, he said.

Recall that Ishaku had, also, in December 2019, signed the state’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, WASH Bill into law, as part of an agreement with sponsors of the programme to make the state water board more efficient.

He further stated that this project is a milestone and he believes that Taraba has the potential to provide not only the best water service delivery in the country but in all of Africa. NNL.
