The immediate past deputy governor of Sokoto State and Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Manir Muhammad Dan’iya (Walin Sokoto), has reassured that should he emerged governor of the state come 2027 he will ensure a leadership style that encompasses both infrastructural development and prioritise people-oriented policies.

Dan’iya, who made the vow while receiving leaders of the ADC from the three Senatorial Zones of Sokoto during a Sallah homage visit at his residence, reassured that his administration would be founded on transparency, consultation, accountability, and responsiveness to the needs and aspirations of the people.

“Government exists to serve the people, not the other way round. Our administration will maintain an open-door policy with a listening ear, ensuring that governance reflects the genuine needs, priorities, and aspirations of the citizens rather than the desires of a privileged few.”

He emphasized that meaningful development can only be achieved when government remains connected to the people and actively engages stakeholders in decision-making processes.

“In a democratic setting, the people are the government. Without their trust, support, and participation, sustainable development cannot be achieved. Leadership must be compassionate, accessible, and responsive to the concerns of the citizens,” he added.

Stating clearly what kind of leadership Sokoto deserved, Dan’iya said the state need someone whose a government prioritizes public welfare, security, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and economic development.

While noting that the ADC is not just the viable option for he people of Sokoto and Nigerians, Dan'Iya affirmed that the party came prepared with very credibly responsible individuals that has what it takes to deliver good goernance and address the challenges facing the state and country.

The ADC candidate further urged party leaders and members across the three Senatorial Zones to remain united, committed, and focused on strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The task before us is to build a stronger and more inclusive political movement that reflects the hopes and aspirations of our people. We must continue to engage communities, promote our vision, and demonstrate that better governance is possible,” he stated.

Earlier in their remarks, the leaders of the ADC from the three Senatorial Zones, led by Prof. Aminu Abubakar Illela, Hon. Abubakar Sadik Sanyinna, and Hon. Kabiru Hali, congratulated Hon. Dan’iya on the successful Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and reaffirmed their unwavering support for the growth and success of the party.

The leaders pledged to intensify grassroots mobilization and political engagement across their respective zones to ensure the success of the ADC at all levels during the 2027 general elections.

Referencing what hey considered as a very unique leadership quality of Dan'Iya, the delegation said his accessibility, humane disposition and accommodating spirit is legendary, even as they rated his taste for quality development as second to none.
