The Commissioner of Police Sokoto State Command, CP Ibrahim S. Kaoje, has received in audience, the Chairman, Commissioners and other principal officers of the Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission at the Command Headquarters in Sokoto. The visit, according to the Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji. Aliyu Suleiman, was aimed at soliciting essential support of the Police as a critical stakeholder in the discharge of the Commission's mandate.
He said the support rendered by the Police during elections would not be emphasized, as according to him, no election would see the light of the day with out the support of the police and other security agencies.
In his remarks, the state commissioner of police, CP Kaoje, expressed gratitude to the Commission for the visit and promised the commands unflinching support to the Commission.
In a related development, a coalition of Youths under the aegis of Northern Peace Foundation had conferred a merit award of Icon of Peace and Unity in Nigeria on CP Kaoje. in an address by the Zonal Coordinator of the Youth Coalition, Muhammad Adamu Kichinga, the conferment amounts to the adoption of the CP Ka'oje as a role model, beacon of hope and patron of the Foundation. In his address, the Police Commissioner reiterated that he would remains a strong advocate of peace.
He said the Command is on its toes of ensuring enhanced security and suppression of subversive elements in Sokoto state. NNL.
