The sokoto state Primary health Care development Agency has commended development partners and the media for their commitment to free the state of Polio virus.
Speaking during a press briefing, the Special Adviser to the Sokoto State Government on Primary Health Care, Hon Chika Umar, congratulated health professionals in the state for achieving another milestone in the fight against the wild polio virus in the state.
He said the state Government will continue to remain committed in the fight against polio and other communicable diseases in the state.
The Special Adviser expressed appreciation with kind of achievement recorded in the fight against polio virus in the state, while urging the state and development partners to ensure its sustainability.
In his comment, the representative of Rotary International, Mr Bayo, called on the State Government to use all available means to keep the state and Nigeria free of virus now and in the future.
The chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state, Comrade Isa Abubakar Shuni, expressed delight with the continued support by the State Government and the development partners in the fight against health related diseases.
It was discovered that the success recorded in the fight against polio virus was as a result of cooperation received from the public.
He said despite zero status, the state is still taking samples for analysis with a view to ensure total eradication of the polio virus. NNL.
