Sokoto State Governemnt has repositioned the State Statistical Agency, to make more efficient in its routine operations,
The state Statistician -General of the State, Alhaji Adamu Liman Tambuwal, disclosed this in statement made available to journalists in sokoto.
He said the state government has also enacted a law that empowered the Agency to discharge it's responsibilities in conformity with subsisting global standards .
The Statistician General was speaking while declaring open a three-day Training workshop for Enumerators of the National Business Sample Census,
The statistician General who was speaking on behalf of the Overseer of the State Ministry Of Budget & Economic Planning, Alhaji Bashir Gidado Jegawa, called on participants to used what they learnt during the workshop to enhanced their capacity.
He explained that the measure was taken considering the fact that reliable and accurate data on major sectors were major prerequisites for addressing poverty in the society.
Tambuwal said:" The decision was also aimed at ensuring accurate and reliable statistical information that would serve as a guide to enhance good governance in the state.
"The training would be conducted within three days, while the planned exercise is expected to commence on the 12th of this month and last for for two days.
"The exercise is a collaborative effort between the National Bureau Of Statistics and the State Bureau Of Statistics." NNL.
