In his introductory remark, Mr Jide Ode, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, said the timing of the meeting is very significant as it will help them make adequate contributions towards ensuring that affordable houses are delivered to Nigerians.
Mr Jide however stressed that the federal government alone cannot provide affordable housing to all Nigerians hence the need for other stakeholders to come on board and increase the stock of affordable houses in Nigeria.
On the meeting, Mr Ode said, "It is appropriate to highlight that the Council meeting is preceded by a 2-Day Technical meeting if the Directors, Heads of Agencies and Professional Bodies in the build environment and the meeting of the Permanent Secretaries in the 3rd Day, being 26th July, 2022.
'The responsibility of the Technical meeting of the Directors as you are aware is to create solid and resourceful foundation by diligently reviewing the Memoranda submitted by stakeholders and fine-tuning the recommendations to the meeting of the Permanent Secretaries for consideration and presentation to the main Council at it's meeting on Thursday, 28th July, 2022".
