Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of The Bridge Online Newspaper, Mr Horatious Egua, has been decorated with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award (MJF), the highest form of recognition within the Lions Club International family.

The award was bestowed on Egua on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the 105th Lions Club International Conference in Boson, United States Of America (USA) by Lion Douglas X. Alexander, the Chairperson of Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF).

Egua, the Second Vice President Isheri Host Lions Club, fulfilled the key criteria for the award which embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature.

The Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) is the backbone of the Lions Club International Foundation. It is an eminent humanitarian honour presented to individuals, especially members of the Club who donate 1,000 United States Dollars to Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) or to people for whom a donation was made by others.

Such donation is a tremendous offering or contribution to humanity and to the legacy of the Lions Club International founder and Secretary-treasurer, Melvin Jones, who was born on January 13, 1879 but died on June 1, 1961.

However, upon Jones passage, the program, Melvin Jones Fellowship was established in his honour in 1973. Every year, each Lions club may nominate one or more members who have provided service above and beyond the normal Lion commitment. A requirement, Nigerian-born Lion Horatious Egua had indeed fulfilled in profound humanitarian engagements to merit the elite international recognition outside the shores of Nigeria and the continent of Africa.
